HVAC /controls Wireless thermostat simplifi es commercial building digital automation Johnson Controls released a new series of pneumatic-to-digital ther- mostats, the WT-4000. The series efficiently converts older pneu- matic room control systems and enables communication with newer digital building automation systems. The series provides the benefits of a digital control system, including programmable occupancy scheduling and remote temperature monitoring, which can result in increased energy and operational savings. The new thermostats are long-life battery operated and require no additional wiring, resulting in minimum upfront costs and disruptions to the building's structure or occupants. CHECK OR CIRCLE #148 Ecobee has received OpenADR 2.0b certification from the OpenADR Alliance, a nonprofit corporation created to foster the development, adoption and compliance of the OpenADR smart grid standard. ec- obee is the first company to have a 2.0b-certified thermostat, which provides standard-based communication between utilities and its customers to help improve energy savings and ease of participation in demand-response pro- grams. Designed for more sophisticated devices, OpenADR 2.0b supports most demand response services and markets including commercial, industrial and residential environments, which enables broad-based and completely automated participation in DR events. It includes flexible reporting capabilities for past, current and future data reports. CHECK OR CIRCLE #147 ecobee receives OpenADR 2.0b certifi cation /refrigeration FridgeWize launches Q12 and Q10 evaporator motor fan blades FridgeWize has launched the Q12 and Q10 evaporator motor fan blades, enabling clients with refrigeration units to save money on utility bills. A dramatic improvement from aluminum and plastic blades commonly used in refrigeration systems, the carbon fiber Q12 and Q10 evaporator motor fan blades are engineered to significantly reduce energy consumption. A teardrop shape and thin, lightweight de- sign maximize efficiency and its carbon fiber composite always maintains shape. CHECK OR CIRCLE #151 DAIKIN APPLIED'S AGZ-E CHILLER LINE REDEFINES HVAC PERFORMANCE The new AGZ-E family of Air Cooled Scroll Chillers by Daikin Applied presents a line of products that enables greater energy savings and environmental efficiency, while also offering easy maintenance — all equating to a reduced lifetime ownership cost. The chillers are ideal for use in small to midsized buildings. The factory-installed custom pump packages reduce engineering and design efforts, quicken installation and commissioning and allow for more usable and revenue-generating space on the jobsite. Fast-loading capabilities allow them to provide 100 percent chilled water capacity in less than four minutes after a power loss, or in just two minutes from standby mode. CHECK OR CIRCLE #152 New cooling towers help contribute to LEED points Baltimore Aircoil Company's new Series 1500 Cooling Tower is tailored for projects that require an extreme efficiency unit to minimize energy costs. The towers are at least two times more efficient than the minimum requirements established in ASHRAE Standard 90.1–2013. The XE Models provide low operating costs with paybacks of less than two years, additional sound reductions of up to 50 percent (3dB), increase operating reliability and help contribute to Energy and Atmosphere LEED Credits (EAc1). CHECK OR CIRCLE #153 NEW COMPACT ANALOG ELECTRONIC CONTROLLER-ACTUATOR FOR DISCHARGE AIR TEMPERATURE KMC Controls has launched a new line of ultra-compact DAT controller- actuators, the CEP-4703V. They are designed to control the discharge air temperature, also known as leaving air temperature, primarily in fan coil and unit ventilator applications. They can be config- ured for heating or cooling. DAT temperature setpoint is determined simply by a resistor (purchased separately) connected to the terminal block. DAT tem- perature is measured by a remote STE-1401 (or other 10K Type III thermistor sensor). A sensitivity adjustment determines the speed of response to measured temperature changes away from setpoint. CHECK OR CIRCLE #149 Emerson Wi-Fi- enabled thermostat offers simple setup The Sensi thermostat provides a new business opportunity to sell a Wi-Fi- enabled thermostat that is easy to install and easy to connect, at a price similar to comparable standard thermostats today. It can be hardwired for power or use two replaceable AA batteries for most applications. In addition, the Sensi thermostat stores and provides single-touch access to reach the registered installing contractor if any issues arise with the system.
