POTTORFF INTRODUCES ONLINE LOUVER SELECTION TOOL Pottorff has introduced its new online louver selection tool, LIST, to the industry. LIST allows users to select the right louver based on application and performance criteria such as material, airflow, pressure loss, free area and various certifications. AIR KING EARNS EPA AWARD The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognized Air King with a 2014 Energy Star Partner of the Year — Sustained Excellence Award for its continued leadership in protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency. This is the third year the company has received the award. Air King has continued its leadership in energy-efficient products by adding to its lines of Energy Star- qualified exhaust fans and range hoods. RHEEM ACQUIRES HEAT TRANSFER PRODUCTS GROUP Rheem has acquired Heat Transfer Products Group. HTPG is a manufacturer of commercial refrigeration equipment for the foodservice, food retail and other non-consumable markets. The company will engage its capability of electronic controls into the development of future HTPG products. SUNTRAC AND KMC PARTNER FOR HVAC SOLUTIONS SunTrac Solar and KMC Controls announced a joint venture in providing sustainable heating and cooling solutions for residential and commercial buildings. KMC will be the manufacturer of private-label equipment controls for SunTrac. KMC will make customized controllers to optimize the energy efficiency of the entire HVAC unit in conjunction with the SunTrac solar collector system and the likely inclusion of a variable- capacity compressor from Danfoss. HTS TEXAS AND DIRECT EXPANSION SOLUTIONS RELOCATE HTS Texas and Direct Expansion Solutions, a sister company of HTS that specializes in variable refrigerant flow implementation and design, have relocated to a new, larger space in San Antonio, Texas to accommodate the growing needs of the central Texas HVAC market. The 15,000 square- foot complex consists of an office and a warehouse facility outfitted with Daikin's VRV system, to provide clients and employees with state-of-the-art climate control. NEW WHITE PAPER EXAMINES FUTURE OF AIR CONDITIONING REFRIGERANTS Emerson Climate Technologies, Inc. recently released a white paper that reviews environmental drivers, discusses regulations and timing, examines refrigerant choices and looks at the future direction of refrigerants for air conditioning systems. The white paper looks at several issues, including the consideration of global warming potential of refrigerants and the balance of the indirect global warming issues of efficiency and power usage. JOHNSON CONTROLS COMPLETES PURCHASE OF AIR DISTRIBUTION TECHNOLOGIES The acquisition of Air Distribution Technologies by Johnson Controls for $1.6 billion is now complete. Johnson Controls has acquired 48 locations with over 7,000 employees that produce a broad range of air distribution products under brands such as Ruskin, Titus, Hart & Cooley, Krueger, PennBarry, Tuttle & Bailey and others that are used in nearly every building construction project. HARDI DISTRIBUTORS REPORT 8.8% REVENUE INCREASE IN LATEST REPORT The average sales growth for reporting HVACR distributor members increased by 8.8 percent, according to the latest findings released by Heating, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International. The annualized growth was in the 5-6 percent range from the spring of 2013 until late in the year. With the 6.4 percent annualized growth achieved through February 2014, the upper end of that range has been breached for the third consecutive month. For more details, visit www.hardinet.org.
