/ b r i e f s / p e o p l e industry /plumbing Weil-McLain President John Swann Assumes Industry Leadership Role John Swann , president of Weil-McLain, was recently elected and began serving as chairman of the Hydronics Institute Section of the Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration Institute. He has more than 20 years of industrial manufac- turing and leadership experience. As chairman of the section, which has been representing the North American hydronics heating industry since 1915 and includes 68 member companies, Swann will oversee the boiler, baseboard radiation and indirect water heater sections of AHRI's membership, and provide leadership in the areas of government affairs and policymaking, product performance standards, certification programs and industry awareness. As an active member of the Hydronics Institute Section's Executive Committee since 2013 and the AHRI board of directors since 2014, Swann will serve a two-year term as chairman, through 2019. Moen Names Cheri Phyfer as New President, U.S. Businesses Cheri Phyfer has recently joined Moen's executive team of its Global Plumbing Group, a division of Fortune Brands Home & Security, Inc., as president, Moen U.S. Businesses, effec- tive immediately. Phyfer brings more than 20 years of general management, and sales and marketing leadership experience to her position. Her diverse background spans across multiple products, brands and chan- nels including retail, as well as consumer and commercial markets. In her new role, Phyfer has leadership responsibility for the strategy of the Moen U.S. Businesses, providing the vision to increase market share each year and achieve exceptional business results. She oversees and encourages innovation in sales, marketing and product development with a focus on driving profitable growth. John Swann Cheri Phyfer Navien Celebrates 40 Years Worldwide, 12 Years in North America Navien employees throughout the United States and Canada recently celebrated KD Navien's 40 years of successful worldwide business operations and 12 years of successful operations in North America. Core products for the company are tankless water heaters, combi-boilers and boilers sold through wholesale distribution. CLEAVER-BROOKS ACHIEVES AHRI CERTIFICATION FOR 12,000 MBTU/ HR CONDENSING BOILER Cleaver-Brooks announces it has earned AHRI certifi- cation for its ClearFire-LC 12,000 MBtu/hr hydronic condensing boiler, and it is the second manufacturer to earn AHRI certification for a 10,000 MBtu/hr hydronic condensing model. The CFLC 12,000 model earned a combustion efficiency rating of 94.5 percent and a ther- mal efficiency rating of 94.5 percent in independent, third-party tests certified by AHRI. The CFLC 10,000 model achieved the same ratings. Cleaver-Brooks also earned AHRI certification for all models of its recently launched ClearFire-CE boiler. The CFC-E ranges in size from 500 to 2,000 MBtu/hr and achieves up to 99 percent efficiency. The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute administers the AHRI Certification Programs that test and certify the performance of HVACR and water heating equipment. Its approach to product cer- tification requires the performance of equipment in the program to be independently measured and verified, allowing for fair product comparisons. PMI RELEASES PRODUCT CATEGORY RULE GUIDANCE DOCUMENT FOR KITCHEN AND BATH VESSEL FIXTURES Plumbing Manufacturers International, in collabora- tion with its members, has issued version 1.1. of the Product Category Rule Guidance Document for Kitchen and Bath Vessel Fixtures. The guidance document was developed to help program operators apply consistent rules and calculations when developing PCRs for these fixtures, and has been distributed to them for their use. The document was created by PMI's Sustainability Task Group. Comprised of PMI manufacturing mem- bers, the task group is part of PMI's Water Efficiency and Sustainability Committee. The purpose and scope of this committee is to develop and implement strategy to influ- ence public policy, legislation, regulation, certification, listing and labeling related to the sustainability and water efficiency of plumbing products. The task group plans to develop additional guidance documents for other plumb- ing products. Learn more at safeplumbing.org.
