The product, which also secured a win in the Innovation Awards' plumbing category, allows for easy installation onto existing domestic hot water recirculation pump systems, to more efficiently man- age on-demand hot water delivery. Taco's 115 volt SmartPlug Instant Hot Water Control features technology to learn and record a homeowner's us- age patterns, and employ the data to operate a home's hot water recircula- tion pump when hot water is typically required. CALL FOR ABSTRACTS ISSUED FOR GLOBAL PLUMBING, WATER SYMPOSIUM The American Society of Plumbing Engineers, the Alliance for Water Efficiency, the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials and Plumbing Manufacturers International, in cooperation with the World Plumbing Council, will convene the sixth biennial Emerging Water Technology Symposium in May 2018 in Ontario, California. A call for abstracts for the event has been issued and is available for download at iapmo.org. Previously called the International Emerging Technology Symposium, the EWTS has been renamed to better associate the event with water- and plumbing- related issues. The co-conveners welcome abstracts and participation from across the globe. BRADFORD WHITE TO BUILD AEROTHERM SERIES IN MICHIGAN FACILITY Bradford White Water Heaters has completed an agreement to acquire production assets from the heat pump water heater operations of GE Appliances, a Haier company. Bradford White plans to relocate the acquired manufacturing equipment to its Middleville, Michigan factory. While the process is expected to take several months, the company will continue to fill cus- tomer orders for its 50 and 80 gallon AeroTherm Series products from its enhanced inventory position. As part of the agreement, Bradford White will extend its 24/7 customer support services to existing GeoSpring water heater owners. For details, visit bradfordwhite.com. ASSE INTERNATIONAL PUBLISHES FOURTH SCALD AWARENESS WHITE PAPER ASSE International has published its fourth scald awareness white paper, "Guidelines for Temperature Control Devices in Domestic Hot Water Systems," which is available for free download at asse-plumbing.org. The primary goal of the paper is to address proper and improper applications of temperature-limiting devices covered by ASSE product performance standards.
