products /plumbing Boiler Offers Near- Perfect Combustion in a Small Footprint Cleaver-Brooks' CBEX Dryback Elite boiler is generally 20 percent smaller than other firetube models and heats up to 20 percent faster. Its dryback construction offers unen- cumbered access to all parts of the boiler for ease of maintenance. Engineers at Cleaver-Brooks used ad- vanced computational fluid dynamics to opti- mize the integration of core competencies, including burner, controls and heat recovery, which led to dramatic improvements in ef- ficiency and emission reductions. In addition, CFD modeling helps reduce thermal gradi- ents and stresses in the system, ensuring a long pressure vessel life, as well as a reduc- tion in downtime and maintenance compared to traditional systems. CHECK OR CIRCLE #128 Tankless Water Heater Allows for Customized Operation A. O. Smith's 540P Series Condensing Tankless water heater with integrated recirculating pump provides instant hot water while being environmentally friendly with a UEF of up to 0.95. The pump is easily controlled with a simple user interface and multiple pump settings, which allow for cus- tomized operation to meet hot water needs and maximize efficiency. As part of the condensing tankless family, it uses up to 199,000 Btu/hr and can be paired with a recirculat- ing system. The product is Energy Star qualified and built with commercial-grade materials like marine-grade 316L stainless steel, giving it a 15-year limited warranty. The line also includes the new high-temperature hydronics model, with temperatures ranging from 104 F to 176 F. Simplify future service with a full selection of G1 union ac- cessories and isolation kits. All products are certified lead free and in stock for im- mediate shipment. CHECK OR CIRCLE #126 Cross-Connection Protection Offered with New Backflow Preventer The all-new 574 Series testable, reduced-pressure zone backflow preventer from Caleffi is used in resi- dential and commercial plumbing systems where ASSE 1013 type devices are required by code. The 574 Series prevents accidental contamination of the distribution water supply system when there is a reduction in pressure in the supply system or an increase in pressure in the building plumbing system. The valve is ICC-ES certified to ASSE 1013, CSA B64.6 and NSF 372 low lead laws. It meets codes IPC, IRC and UPC for use in accordance with the U.S. and Canadian plumbing codes. Available in ½- and ¾-inch pipe sizes with NPT or press con- nections, the valve is complete with discharge air gap, isolation valves and pressure taps. CHECK OR CIRCLE #127 /piping /valves STAINLESS STEEL IN-LINE CHECK VALVES OFFER HIGHEST FLOW CAPACITY AT LOW COST Bonomi's Series S250 in-line check valves feature a cold-formed 316 stainless steel body. The metal forming process allows an improved flow profile inside the valve body to minimize head loss. It also eliminates machining for reduced manufacturing cost. The Series S250 is electron beam welded at the end cap-to-body connection creating a unibody for leak-free service. The low-cracking .50 psi spring-loaded FKM seat provides high-flow capacity, minimal head loss and dependable, bubble-tight protection against reverse flow. Available in six sizes, the new valves are rated to 250 WOG with an operating temperature range of from -4 F to 302 F. CHECK OR CIRCLE #125 Oatey Silences Water Hammering with New Quiet Pipes Oatey Co. has launched Quiet Pipes Water Hammer Arrestors, servicing a full range of commercial and residential applications. Quiet Pipes is designed to help solve current and potential water hammer problems by absorbing the water shock in a plumbing system when a valve is closed abruptly. Oatey's Quiet Pipes includes a polypropylene piston design with two NBR O-rings within the chamber to help absorb the water shock in the system. With Quiet Pipes, when a valve on a water line is closed abruptly, the water moves into the pressurized chamber and the shock is absorbed. Once the water flow comes out of the chamber, it is dissipated to the rest of the water line preventing clanking or banging.
