Designed with contractors in mind, Optyma Slim is compact, easy to install, easy to service — and offers reliable perfor- mance. The condensing units feature microchannel heat exchangers for high-energy efficiency, low-refrigerant charge and easy maintenance, as well as scroll compressors for quiet operation. The units also come pre-equipped with a defrost timer, filter drier and sight glass to minimize installation time. Optyma Slim is available in sizes ranging from 1 horsepower to 8 horsepower for low-temperature applications and 1 horsepower to 10 horsepower for medium-temperature ap- plications, and is available for use with R-404A and R-134a. CHECK OR CIRCLE #144 Johnson Controls Launches Next Generation of VRF Technology Johnson Controls has launched the Hitachi SmartFlex Variable Refrigerant Flow Gen II, the second generation of VRF HVAC equipment for the North American market. The line has an extended operating range with cooling down to an ambient outdoor temperature as low as -4 F with the low ambient kit (for server rooms or other areas that require cooling year-round) and as high as 122 F. The heating operating range extends from an ambient outdoor temperature of -13 F to 59 F. This extended op- erating range enables customers to select highly efficient VRF systems for more projects – including those with demanding requirements. For further flexibility, single modules are available in 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 ton capacities enabling heat pump or heat recovery sys- tems up to 36 tons to be configured more economically. CHECK OR CIRCLE #141 AIR HANDLER OFFERS COMPLETE SYSTEM SOLUTION, HIGHER EFFICIENCIES Daikin Applied's Rebel rooftop air handler offers a customizable chilled water solution featuring segment-leading technologies that provide for a complete single-sourced system. Combined with either Pathfinder or Trailblazer air-cooled chillers, users capital- ize on the 22+ IPLV performance of an air-cooled chiller for a complete system solution to match application needs. Energy efficiency is at the core of the design, gaining up to 15 percent energy savings from Rebel's standard direct drive airfoil supply and ECM fans. The factory-installed energy recovery wheel captures and recycles lost energy, increasing the HVAC system efficiency and reducing the mechanical cooling capacity by as much as 30 percent to help exceed AHRI and ASHRAE 90.1-2016 standards. CHECK OR CIRCLE #142 Samsung Expands Max Heat Series of Heat Pumps, Heat Recovery Equipment Samsung is unveiling new additions to the Max Heat series of heat pumps and heat recov- ery equipment, including low ambient heating 1:1 high-wall systems. Presently, the series consists of 6-24 ton heat pump VRF systems for commercial applications providing 100 per- cent heating capacity at -13 F. Residential and light com- mercial product offerings include Energy Star-rated single-zone and multi-zone systems providing high heating capacity at -13 F. New airflow technology allows the DVM S heat pump and heat recovery units to capture an Integrated Energy Efficiency Ratio of 40. Other system features include a built-in base heater and Wi-Fi capability. CHECK OR CIRCLE #145 Trane Enhances ProSpace VRF Systems Portfolio with New Technologies Trane has unveiled new product enhancements to the ProSpace Variable Refrigerant Flow portfolio. Innovative technologies were applied to deliver even more design flexibility and reliability than ever before. With enhanced energy efficiency, more scalability and simplified installation, ProSpace VRF solutions can be used in a wider variety of building applications. Updates include the ProSpace Circular Cassette indoor units, which have a 360 degree circular airwave design to eliminate inconsistent temperatures, air-flow pat- terns and down drafts in a single space. In addition to increasing occupant comfort, the new aesthetic design further enhances the building space.
